The Barbados Council for the Disabled joins with the island of Barbados and indeed our region in mourning the passing of former Prime Minister Owen Arthur.
Prime Minister Arthur was not only the longest serving leader of our country, but also a keen supporter of the Council and its aspirations.
It was Prime Minister Arthur who enabled us to obtain our present well equipped facilities and in June of 2006 officially handed over the building along with a pledge to ensure that outwork would be sustained by his Government – a pledge which successive Governments have upheld.
It is through this ongoing support that our organisation has been afforded the opportunity continue to serve our citizens.
The Board of Directors, staff and affiliates of the Barbados Council for the Disabled extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. His legacy will remain a beacon to all, to guide us towards a Horizon of continued peace and development.
May his soul Rest In Peace!
