DESCRIPTION:In just couple of weeks ‘The Hyatt Regency Trinidad’ will host the First Caribbean Congress on Adolescent and Youth Health. A consortium of Caribbean and regional partners is organizing a regional Congress to mobilize greater investment and connect\, collaborate and align efforts in the Caribbean for the promotion and protection of the health and well-being of all adolescents and young people.  The congress takes place October 15-17\, 2019 in Trinidad and Tobago. \nThis Congress\, the first of its kind in the Caribbean\, will be a launch-pad from which advocates\, health and social workers\, policy-makers\, academia\, clinicians and young people themselves can heed the call towards improving their health and well-being for the future development of the region. \nThere will be a special session addressing the health needs of young people with disabilities as well. \nRepresenting the Barbados Council for the Disabled will be Mr. Christopher Gilkes\, our Public Relations Officer.

DESCRIPTION:The Barbados Association for Children with Brain Injury is a Registered Charity #1104 which was formed in January\, 2014 and are active members of the Barbados Council for\nthe Disabled. \nWe are primarily responsible through the efforts of the Children’s Variety of Barbados for transporting children to school and from the Challenor Creative Arts &\nTraining Centre on a daily basis as well as providing moral and financial support for parents of these children some of whom have mild to severe disabilities. \nEach year we endeavor to raise funds and this year we will be hosting a Fish Fry and Karaoke Competition on Saturday 26 th May at Cricket Legends\, Fontabelle from 7.00 p.m. to 1.00 a.m. Funds from this events will go toward assisting a parent whose twins age 1yr both have Zika and other severe medical conditions as well as to continue our transportation programme with the Children’s Variety Club of Barbados. \nDownload our Fish fry flyer Here.

DESCRIPTION:The Paralympic Association of Barbados (PAB) will be hosting the inaugural Wesley Worrell Memorial 5K Run/Walk event on Sunday April 2\, 2017. \nThis event is in memory of the late Wesley Worrell the founder and past President of Paralympic Association of Barbados (PAB). \nThe Run/Walk event will be inviting participants from the able bodied and disabled community of Barbados. \nFor the participants there is an entry fee of $ 20.00 per adult \, $ 10.00 for children under 12 years of age and $ 15.00 per person for groups of 10 or more persons. DESCRIPTION:The Special Olympics 5K for Understanding Acceptance and Inclusion begins at the Bay Street Esplanade at 4:00 pm\, and each 5K runner and walker will receive a tee-shirt with their $25 race fee. In addition\, younger runners and walkers under the age of 13 can take part in a Kiddies Fun Run 1K\, which also starts at the Esplanade.
