Keri Autism Acceptance

This year, we celebrate December 3rd – International Day for Persons With Disabilities – not as a “one off” remembrance of disability rights and issues, but rather as a day to remind the world that we that live with Disabilities exist and have a right to contribute to our society!

The theme “Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fueling an accessible and equitable world “focuses attention on the transformation that is taking place around us. Too often without our participation but if correctly handled, has the power to alter the future of our world in ways that are supportive of and inclusive for persons with disabilities.

Here in Barbados, we at the Barbados Council for the Disabled remain at the front of the vanguard for change. Our work over the past has helped “fuel” the change we want to see and we stay behind the wheel driving the transformation we need to succeed.

The Council invites you, our stakeholders, whether as a member, a partner or supporter to join us in the work we do. Whether you are a person with a disability, a caregiver, advocate, family member or associate; whether you provide services to the public or offer goods for sale to us, recommit yourself this coming year to endeavor to bring about the remapping of our country to be more inclusive and supportive of our rights, needs and abilities.

Happy IDPD 2022
