The Barbados Council for the Disabled (BCD) recently convened its Annual General Meeting at the picturesque Barbados Yacht Club on Saturday, October 21, 2023. The event, which brought together key stakeholders, members, and supporters of the organization, featured a compelling presentation by the Guest Speaker, Mr. Anderson Langdon, the Executive Director of the Barbados Family Planning Association.

Mr. Langdon’s presentation, titled “Redefining the Future of NGOs: A Call to Action,” underscored the urgency and importance for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to adapt their operational strategies and governance procedures to ensure their continued relevance in the third sector. His thought-provoking address resonated deeply with attendees, emphasizing the critical role of NGOs in Barbados’ social fabric.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Langdon praised the Barbados Council for the Disabled for its tireless efforts. He encouraged other NGOs in Barbados to embrace change and innovation in their operations to meet the evolving needs of their communities.

Key highlights from the Annual General Meeting include:
1. Mr. Langdon’s presentation urged attendees to rethink and adapt their approaches to community engagement, advocacy, and organizational sustainability. He stressed that the rapidly changing social and economic landscape requires NGOs to be agile and innovative.
