Blind Batsman awaiting Ball bowled by St. Martins Primary Crickter

The students of the St. Martin Primary School, St. Phillip got the Month of the disabled off to a great start with a awesome and fun filled morning of Cricket on Friday March 1, 2024.

Playing against the Blind Cricketers of Barbados, Captain Jabari Hurdle of St. Martin’s Mangrove lead his team into battle with the cry “Batsman are you ready?” to which the Batman’s of the Blind Cricket’s team responded “Yes, I’m ready!” After that the sound of the cricket ball could be heard jingling down the pitch, as the bowler sent ball after ball towards the whistling wicket.

At the end of 10 overs the score was Barbados Blind Cricketers 81 for the lost of 4 wickets over St. Martins Mangrove 78 for 5 wicks in 10 overs.

These sportsmen all displayed great camaraderie and a love for Cricket which is inspiring to see in such young children as they, the students of the St. Martin Primary cheered their support for the home team.

This month of the Disabled 2024, is filled with similar events for you to come out and support. Keep checking our events calendar for what’s up next.
